Sydney, Australia: ISACA, a leading global association for IT governance, risk management, and cybersecurity professionals, is pleased to announce the appointment of Australian cybersecurity veteran, Jamie Norton to its 2024-2025 Board of Directors. With over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management and governance, Jamie’s expertise will further strengthen ISACA’s mission to advance trust in technology and equip digital trust professionals for the future.
Jamie Norton, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, CIPM, currently serves as a Partner at McGrathNicol, a specialist advisory firm where he provides strategic performance and risk insights to boards and executives across various industries. His extensive career includes serving as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Australian Taxation Office, where he led critical teams in security governance, risk, intelligence, operations, testing and forensics. Jamie’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping cybersecurity strategies and resilience in both government and commercial sectors.
Reflecting on his appointment, Jamie commented, “For me, ISACA has always been about the community of like-minded professionals that underpin digital trust in our society. Our local chapters provide opportunities to build relationships that have stayed with me for decades. These chapters offer forums for industry updates, advocacy, learning and knowledge transfer, and support for undertaking industry-leading certifications that have been a cornerstone of my career.
“As a global community, we are confronting unprecedented threats, including the rapid evolution and weaponisation of AI, an unhealthy normalisation of data breaches, and a concerning shortage of experienced cybersecurity professionals. It is critical that we prioritise continuous education and certification to develop skills and talent, a mission that aligns closely with ISACAโs objectives. And more than ever, we need to ensure we are providing opportunities for future generations of security professionals,” said Mr Norton.
Erik Prusch, CEO of ISACA said, “I am pleased to welcome Jamie to ISACAโs Board of Directors. Jamie’s dedication and commitment to the industry is demonstrated through his nearly two decades of active involvement with ISACA, where he has contributed at the local chapter board level, organised conferences and participated in the CISM Certification Working Group.
โHe joins a diverse and dynamic group of professionals focused on evolving and strengthening the support provided to our global members. Jamieโs wealth of expertise will be invaluable as we navigate a new era of emerging technology and complex digital threats,” said Mr Prusch.
In addition to his role at McGrathNicol, Jamie serves on the Advisory Board at Avertro, a cybersecurity startup focused on enhancing organisational cyber resilience and AI safety. His previous leadership roles span notable organisations such as NEC, Tenable, Check Point and the World Health Organisation.
Jamie is based in Australia and is a regular industry speaker and media commentator on cybersecurity issues. He holds formal qualifications in accounting, finance, commercial law, IT and taxation and is an affiliate member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. His appointment to the ISACA Board of Directors is a testament to his dedication and contributions to the field.
