H-E Parts Chooses Fortinet To Secure And Manage All Global Sites On One Platform

December 15, 2023 – H-E Parts, a leader in the mining sector’s aftermarket parts and components industry, and Fortinet®, the global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security, have partnered to implement a multi-faceted cybersecurity transformation. Fortinet’s comprehensive suite of solutions will be employed to fortify and streamline security operations across all global H-E Parts sites.

Founded in 2006, H-E Parts has grown exponentially through strategic acquisitions over the years, with dozens of global locations serving the surface mining equipment and crushing and materials processing sectors. During this growth, it acquired 19 businesses, each using multiple vendors and technology platforms. This introduced numerous complexities resulting in poor visibility, lack of central management, and increased risk due to inconsistent security, especially across the organisation’s isolated locations and large remote workforce.

In response to these challenges and as part of a mandate from its parent company, H-E Parts investigated a global security and networking refresh with the guidance of its partner, SAU Digital Australia. It aims to adopt a cloud-first approach by 2026. After a rigorous selection process, H-E Parts chose Fortinet to execute its multi-faceted cybersecurity transformation project. Fortinet will deploy its secure networking, next-generation firewall (NGFW), secure remote access with universal secure access service edge (SASE), and security analytics solutions to significantly strengthen and simplify H-E Parts’s security infrastructure across both physical and remote work environments.

Fortinet’s SASE’s ability to seamlessly integrate with Fortinet’s software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) played a pivotal role in finalising the agreement with H-E Parts. This strategic combination aligned with the business’s cloud-first initiative and demonstrated significant cost savings. The streamlined licensing process simplified operations and led to a substantial reduction in management platforms, consolidating the previous 17 vendors down to only two. This innovative approach underscores Fortinet’s commitment to providing efficient, cost-conscious, and simplified cybersecurity solutions tailored to the specific needs of H-E Parts.

The built-in zero trust network access (ZTNA) functionality ensured an additional layer of protection for H-E Parts. Fortinet proved to be the sole vendor capable of offering one unified management platform, simplistic licensing, secure networking, and low total cost of ownership (TCO).

Simon Hatfield, vice president – global IT, H-E Parts, said, “Investing in a Fortinet solution will enhance the H-E Parts cybersecurity posture, protect sensitive data, ensure regulatory compliance, and facilitate efficient and secure network performance. In other words, it forms a foundational building block from which H-E Parts can grow.”

Daniel Bersan, global information technology manager, H-E Parts, said, “H-E Parts is truly excited to be part of this dynamic partnership with Fortinet and SAU Digital Australia. The organisation’s journey to enhance the customer and end-user experience is a testament to its commitment to innovation and excellence. Together with Fortinet, H-E Parts is not just raising the bar; it’s setting a new standard that will empower the company and delight customers.”

Duong Trinh, senior IT systems and network administrator, H-E Parts, said, “Embarking on a network upgrade project with additional security is essential for the future. Each connection is fortified and each data path protected. Together with Fortinet and SAU Digital Australia, H-E Parts will safeguard its valuable and mission-critical information for years to come.”

Ben Donaldson, partner, SAU Digital Australia, said, “SAU Digital is excited to collaborate with Fortinet and H-E Parts to provide H-E Parts with a cutting-edge network infrastructure that will drive the business towards greater success. The team at SAU Digital is committed to delivering a seamless and highly secure network solution, with the goal to enhance connectivity and productivity, ensuring H-E Parts operates smoothly and efficiently.”

Dale Nachman, country manager, Australia, Fortinet, said, “Partnering with H-E Parts and SAU Digital Australia has given Fortinet the opportunity to showcase the true potential of its secure networking, NGFW, Universal SASE, logging, and analytics solutions. Fortinet recognised the complexities H-E Parts faced managing multiple vendors and platforms and looks forward to seeing the positive impact its solutions can have on H-E Parts’s global operations now and into the future.”
