Atturra Joins Forces With Somerville in Multi-Million Dollar Acquisition

Sydney, 9 March 2023 โ€“ Somerville, one of the most experienced end-to-end technology service providers in Australia, today announced that it will be acquired by Atturra Limited (Atturra) in a deal expected to close by the end of March 2023.

The acquisition brings together two Australian IT services leaders with a mutual focus on adding value to IT transformation outcomes for customers. Atturra provides a range of enterprise advisory, consulting, IT services and solutions while Somervilleโ€™s services include connectivity, security, cloud, modern workplace, and hardware and software procurement.

From the outset, Somervilleโ€™s business approach has incorporated a company culture determined to satisfy the evolving technology and service needs of its customers. During this time, the company invested millions of dollars into its cloud and network infrastructure to ensure it has the capability to deliver cutting-edge solutions to clients. This infrastructure prioritises security and provides bespoke solutions for Australiaโ€™s mid-market, while also delivering high performance, scalability, resilience, and bullet-proof reliability.

The acquisition will now enable Atturra to deliver the entire technology stack from application to infrastructure further accelerating business growth and supporting the expansion of operations into new technologies and markets.

Somerville will become a wholly owned part of Atturra and will continue to operate as it currently does with the integration following a staged process over several months.   All Somerville employees will retain their roles and continue to undertake their current responsibilities.

Craig Somerville, CEO, Somerville, said, โ€œThis acquisition represents an outstanding opportunity for Somervilleโ€™s staff, customers, and partners. Atturra has forged a strong reputation as a well-respected player within the Australian IT services industry, with long-standing client and partner relationships.

โ€œOur strong focus on delivering quality outcomes to our valued customers will be enhanced by the breadth and depth of offerings that Atturra brings. Atturra now opens the door to fantastic career opportunities for our team and the chance to work on a wide range of projects with the larger organisation.โ€

At the same time, the acquisition will also allow Somerville to build better relevance for its customers by moving up the application suite and becoming more embedded in their operations. Somervilleโ€™s customer base includes over 500 mid-market organisations across the education, banking and finance, professional services and manufacturing spheres, many of which have relied on the company to operate as their de facto IT department for more than a decade.

Somerville said, โ€œWe envisage there will be strong growth in demand for Somervilleโ€™s managed services and cloud business. Atturra has strong skills and existing business in the Microsoft space and is one of the largest Azure partners in Australia, and this will improve our access to these resources.โ€

Stephen Kowal, CEO, Atturra, said, โ€œThe acquisition of Somerville will be significant, as it will not only provide Atturra with a broad-based managed services capability to facilitate large end-to-end projects, but it will also strengthen our position within the Australian education sector.

โ€œWe are excited to have the opportunity to bring Somerville into the Atturra fold, as it is a trusted technology partner with over 40 yearsโ€™ experience offering solutions that will complement the Atturra offerings.โ€

The transaction is expected to complete on or around 31 March 2023.
