Milestone Systems Introduces Trusted Generative AI Tools for Security Operations

Milestone Systems has unveiled a new suite of generative AI-powered solutions designed specifically for security operations, addressing long-standing challenges around manual workflows, regulatory compliance, and trust in automated systems. While generative AI adoption continues to accelerate across industries, many security teams still rely on manual processes for reviewing footage, documenting incidents, and anonymising video. These inefficiencies persist largely due to concerns around accuracy, reliability, and compliance in high-stakes environments. Milestone’s latest solutions are designed to overcome these barriers by delivering AI tools purpose-built for security use cases, where precision and accountability are critical.

AI built for accuracy, trust, and compliance

The new capabilities focus on three key areas within the security workflow:

  • AI Search enables operators to locate relevant footage using natural language queries, eliminating the need for manual video scrubbing or complex filtering.
  • XProtect Video Summarisation automatically generates structured, consistent incident reports from video footage, significantly reducing review time.
  • Video Anonymisation ensures compliance with privacy regulations by automatically redacting faces and licence plates before footage is shared.

These tools are designed to work seamlessly within Milestone’s ecosystem, helping organisations streamline operations while maintaining compliance with regulations such as the EU AI Act and GDPR.

Purpose-built models for security environments

Unlike general-purpose AI models, Milestone’s vision language models (VLMs) are fine-tuned using domain-specific video data to ensure consistent and reliable outputs in real-world security scenarios. The models are trained on Milestone’s compliant video data library — one of the largest of its kind — which includes responsibly sourced, anonymised, and fully traceable datasets. Andrew Burnett, Chief Technology Officer at Milestone Systems, said trust is central to the company’s AI strategy.

“The answer is trust — trust that the data is compliant, trust that the AI is accurate, and trust that these tools will genuinely make operators’ jobs easier.”

Built on compliant and traceable data

Milestone’s data library is developed through fair-exchange agreements with customers globally and is anonymised using technology from brighter AI. The datasets are enriched with hundreds of thousands of annotations using NVIDIA technologies. This approach ensures that all AI models trained on the data are aligned with evolving regulatory requirements while preserving individual privacy.

Expanding AI across video security platforms

The new capabilities will be integrated across Milestone’s video management software (VMS), video surveillance-as-a-service (VSaaS), and analytics platforms, including XProtect and Arcules. AI Search is expected to be available by the end of 2026, with on-premises deployment options planned for secure or air-gapped environments. Milestone will showcase the new solutions at ISC West, where attendees can experience live demonstrations of its AI-powered video technologies.
