Macquarie Technology Group Welcomes ATA’s Change In Constitution to Appoint Telecoms Company Leaders to Board

Macquarie Technology Group has welcomed the Australian Telecommunications Alliance’s (ATA) decision to change its constitution so that only telecommunications company leaders can be appointed to the Board. The decisions sees Macquarie’s own Group Executive Luke Clifton join the Board, bringing decades of technological and customer experience leadership.

The change reflects both the organisation’s commitment to strengthening industry leadership and the value of Clifton’s long-standing contribution across the telecommunications sector.

The ATA plays a critical role in shaping national standards, ensuring connectivity for all Australians, advocating for innovation, and supporting the growth of Australia’s telecommunications ecosystem. The constitution change and Mr Clifton’s appointment will help advance these priorities, bringing a perspective informed by his work with customers and partners across government, small and mid-sized business, not-for-profit organisations, and enterprise organisations.

With over 20 years’ experience across Australia’s leading telecommunications and managed-services organisations, Clifton has led national transformations in secure networking, SD-WAN, SASE and cyber security-enabled services while prioritising customer-centric culture.

“I’m honoured to be joining the Board of the ATA at this important time for the sector. I’ve been a staunch and passionate advocate for great service delivery and innovation in the telecommunications industry throughout my entire career,” said Clifton.

“At Macquarie Telecom, our entire ethos is built around being the benchmark for great technology and customer service since our inception in the early 1990s. The change of Board composition to include only the most senior leaders from our industry is a strong signal of intent that we, as a critical sector for Australia, are committed to being the best we can be for our customers, partners, and stakeholders. I look forward to working closely with my industry peers to support the industry in every way I can.”

Macquarie Technology Group congratulates Clifton on this recognition and looks forward to supporting him as he continues to contribute to the Australian telecommunications landscape.
