Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud Helps Organisations Across Germany Securely Manage Critical Business Data

Sydney, Australia—May 20, 2025—Organisations across Germany are selecting Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud to help meet their data privacy and residency requirements. The latest examples of organisations in Germany that have selected Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud include Rinderdatenverbund (RDV), Europe’s largest data network for cattle; Berufsgenossenschaft Nahrungsmittel und Gastgewerbe (BGN), an insurance association dedicated to workers in the food and hospitality industry; and Vertama, a healthcare technology provider. By migrating their critical business systems and services to Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud, these organisations can take advantage of flexible, secure, and high-performance cloud computing resources while helping ensure that their workloads are in compliance with EU guidelines and requirements for data sovereignty and privacy.

Part of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) distributed cloud portfolio, Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud enables public and private sector organisations in Germany and across the EU to place sensitive data and applications in the cloud in alignment with EU data privacy and sovereignty requirements. Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud regions are separated from other OCI commercial regions to ensure physical, logical, and cryptographical segregation. This enables Oracle to restrict support and operations to EU residents employed by EU legal entities – a unique capability that sets OCI’s sovereign cloud apart from other hyperscalers. Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud gives customers access to the 150+ AI and cloud services available in OCI’s public cloud regions with the same prices, support, and service level agreements (SLAs) on performance, management, and availability. Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suiteis also available on Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud.

“With demand across the public sector and every industry in Germany, Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud is proving a popular choice for the deployment of EU-based cloud services,” said Thorsten Herrmann, senior vice president and Germany country leader, Oracle. “With this unique service, organisations can accelerate cloud and AI adoption while gaining greater control of their critical data assets and meeting EU regulations.”

Helps the Public Sector Comply with Local Data Regulations and Requirements

BGN and RDV join a rapidly growing list of public sector organisations in Germany, including the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Max Born Institute, that have selected Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud to help meet their data privacy and residency requirements.

RDV, which provides specialist ICT services to the livestock industry in Germany and Austria, uses its RDV-4 database services to help livestock breeders, farmers, and veterinarians manage health and performance data for dairy cattle. By deploying its RDV-4 database services on Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud, RDV can improve the performance, scalability, and availability of the services. In addition, Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud helps RDV reduce operational costs, increase IT efficiency and sustainability, and ensure data and infrastructure security while meeting data sovereignty requirements.

“More than 41,000 farmers in Germany and Austria rely on our software services,” said Dr. Florian Grandl, managing director, RDV. “With Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud, we can offer our customers a secure, EU-located, and EU-operated platform for their most critical data while at the same time enabling them to take full advantage of the benefits of cloud technology, including cost efficiency, performance, and scalability.”

Enables Organisations to Scale Services While Addressing Data Privacy and Residency Requirements

In the private sector, Vertama joins a growing number of medium-sized companies, such as enterprise service management provider Serviceware SE and HR software specialist ELIGO, that are using Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud to address their data privacy and residency requirements.

Vertama, a software provider for German hospitals, is using Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud to power its Reporting-as-a-Service platform. This service, which integrates with hospital information systems (HIS) used by healthcare providers across Germany, covers a wide range of medical and administrative reporting needs including legal court applications and automated reporting of intensive care capacity. By deploying its service on Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud, Vertama ensures high performance, scalability, and full compliance with EU and German data residency regulations. The deployment also enables healthcare providers to seamlessly and securely relay critical healthcare data to public health authorities, civil registry offices, and other administrative bodies.

“With Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud, we have a strong technology foundation to digitise our medical reporting services and further scale these services in Germany and internationally,” said Andre Sturm, CEO, Vertama. “Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud also enables us to react quickly to market developments and ensure we can deploy new services flexibly while helping to guarantee data security and sovereignty compliance.”
