Jemena Strengthens Security Across Critical Infrastructure Sites Nationwide With Genetec Security Center

Sydney, 2 December 2025 Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, has announced that Jemena, a $12.4 billion company that owns and manages some of Australia’s most significant gas and electricity assets has deployed Genetec™ Security Center to bolster security across its critical infrastructure sites nationwide.

In transitioning to the unified Genetec security system, Jemena has replaced an aging fleet of video surveillance cameras and physical security software. The new deployment will provide Jemena with increased visibility to meet tightening regulatory compliance and drive efficiency returns for the business.

Security Center is a unified security platform incorporating access control, video surveillance, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), and communications into a single, intuitive solution. Users can manage security policies, run investigations, and turn on new capabilities when required. It will support Jemena’s vast geographical footprint, which has made it increasingly expensive and inefficient to send out staff to monitor sites and respond to security alerts in recent years.

Following a detailed consultation with its systems integrator, Wilson Security, Jemena deployed a multi-year design and implementation cycle using Genetec solutions to deploy an advanced critical infrastructure security system—all centralised and managed from one location. This was made possible using the solution’s Federation™ feature, which helps bridge multiple independent sites into one view.

Using Security Center, Jemena has reduced the number of single-use tools and broadened remote monitoring capabilities. This has helped drive operational efficiencies, allowing operators to gain widespread coverage even across the company’s most isolated locations.

“Implementing the Genetec platform has been a significant step forward in strengthening our asset protection and operational resilience,” says Fiona Dunk, General Manager, Resilience and Compliance at Jemena.

“Its integrated capabilities have enhanced situational awareness, improved response times, and enabled smarter decision-making through centralised monitoring and analytics. This upgrade not only supports a safer working environment but also delivers long-term value through scalability, efficiency, and a future-ready security infrastructure for the increasingly complex environment we are working in now and in the future.”

Security Center has now been deployed across almost 50 critical sites—from offices to warehouses as well as depots and gas facilities. The deployment also includes approximately 300 cameras, 40 SIP-controlled intercom devices and numerous automatic license plate recognition devices within Security Center. Jemena also implemented thermal perimeter detection technology and biometric authentication, ensuring only authorised personnel gain access to critical infrastructure sites.

Using one unified solution, operators can now remotely monitor video cameras, handle two-way intercom calls, and oversee AutoVu™ ALPR alerts. They are better able to manage security and collaborate with staff at remote sites, enhancing resources and reducing carbon emissions. In addition, the automation of Bluetooth mobile credentials makes both onboarding and offboarding staff seamless and secure.

The option to run virtual patrols has also helped Jemena take more vehicles off the road, reducing carbon emissions and the company’s broader environmental impact. With the expansion of CCTV coverage, patrols can now happen digitally and at a higher frequency.

William Glasson, National Sales Manager at Genetec, said, “Genetec is proud to partner with Jemena to play its part in securing Australia’s critical infrastructure assets and adopting best practice technologies to support a litany of stringent regulatory standards, designed to fortify resilience, and unyielding reliability.”

Jemena owns and manages some of Australia’s most significant gas and electricity assets. From far north Queensland to Tasmania, Jemena powers Australian homes and businesses through a network of remote critical infrastructure sites. This includes supplying over 1.5 million homes, businesses, and industrial customers with essential utility services every day. The business also operates some of Australia’s most significant gas transmission pipelines and is as a leader in building and operating major gas supply assets across eastern and northern Australia.

“Wilson Security and Jemena have cultivated a long-standing, award-winning security collaboration that prioritises both innovation and compliance across these key critical infrastructure sites,” adds Carla Scuderi, Key Account Manager at Wilson Security. “By working closely together, we’ve built a deep understanding of Jemena’s unique security needs, enabling us to support their goals with tailored, forward-looking technology solutions.”
