FieldEx Leverages Datadog to Enhance Resilience and Operational Efficiency

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – July 30, 2025: Datadog, Inc. (NASDAQ: DDOG), the monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, has announced that Malaysian B2B SaaS startup, FieldEx, has significantly improved operational efficiency and reduced downtime risk using the Datadog platform.

FieldEx delivers a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) that enables organisations in Asia-Pacific Africa to streamline operations through a single, unified platform. The solution allows users – including those in the construction, telecoms and financial services industries – to track equipment, manage inventory, assign jobs, schedule maintenance, and manage repairs.

Following a period of rapid customer growth  FieldEx began feeling strain across its systems and applications as it found itself processing more than 15 terabytes of data per week.

“Our rapid expansion led to a surge in traffic, data complexity and ultimately the risk of downtime. Disruptions, even for  a minute or two, impact our customers’ mission critical operations ” said Vijay Dharmaraj, Chief Architect and Security Officer at FieldEx. “We recognised we needed a modern observability solution that could help us maintain customer trust, ensure service reliability, and proactively identify issues before they impact end users. This is where Datadog fits in beautifully – it caters to both our platform uptime target of 99.9 per cent availability, and provides deep insights that allow us to  finetune the system and strengthen both our platform reliability and our overall cybersecurity posture.”

Bringing stability and cohesion as more departments adopt tools

Since implementation, Datadog has significantly enhanced FieldEx’s system stability, provided precise issue detection and alerting, and freed engineers from manual monitoring tasks to focus on delivering new features and responding to evolving market opportunities at a much faster pace.

“This stability and real-time visibility have directly improved customer trust and accelerated our Go-To-Market strategies,” said Dharmaraj.

Datadog has helped FieldEx achieve a 30 per cent increase in operational efficiency. Mean time to detect (MTTD) improved by 92 per cent, dropping to less than two minutes versus the 25 minutes previously required. Additionally, the mean time to acknowledgement (MTTA) reduced by 75 per cent from 40 minutes to 10, and mean time to resolution dropped 56 per cent, from 95 minutes to 42.

The Datadog platform was initially used by FieldEx’s security teams, but has since evolved to become the go-to solution for engineering and quality assurance teams. It equips each department with a feature-rich toolset for system validation and troubleshooting.

Specifically, Datadog Workflow Automation integrates email, Slack and PagerDuty, enabling swift incident response, and Datadog Application Performance Monitoring (APM) provides actionable insights on the live system uncovering performance bottlenecks and setting the stage for their removal.

In addition, Datadog’s Security Analytics  Indexed Logs alongside Sensitive Data Scanner reinforce FieldEx’s layered cybersecurity defence by delivering real-time threat detection, identifying sensitive data exposure, and supporting both data loss prevention and regulatory compliance.

Saving time and increasing efficiency

With FieldEx operating in multiple markets, 24×7 monitoring was an essential feature to allow for immediate probing and alerts when an issue arises. Datadog’s automated, round-the-clock monitoring means the engineering team is no longer tasked with manual monitoring and can instead concentrate on more strategic initiatives.

“Previously, engineers relied on DevOps to access and relay production metrics,” said Dharmaraj. “Datadog not only democratised access to critical operational data, but also enhanced our security posture by eliminating the need for direct system logins – giving our team secure, real-time visibility into vital production metrics and logs.”

With more time available to FieldEx’s teams, they have been able to focus on improving their product, and can now bring more features and benefits to its customers.

Dharmaraj said Datadog brought in a ‘watch-tower’-like visibility across FieldEx’s server infrastructure, instilling a deep sense of operational stability as  every inch of the overall system is being monitored and anomalies instantly flagged.

“It’s a fantastic tool that knows every moving part in your infrastructure,” he said. “It alerts you in advance and helps you to get to the bottom of the issue at lightning speeds.”

FieldEx is also planning to leverage Datadog On-Call, Real User Monitoring (RUM) and will begin using more of the many advanced features within the Datadog platform.

“FieldEx’s rapid expansion has resulted in a challenge common to successful start-ups: complexity at scale,” said Rob Thorne, Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) at Datadog. “Deploying the Datadog platform has granted FieldEx a comprehensive observability strategy through a unified dashboard, helping it create stability and cohesion through real-time visibility, and simultaneously supporting its security posture. The company can now understand its expanding technology footprint and resolve issues before they are felt by its teams and customers.”
