Fastly Partners with RSM To Support Australian and New Zealand Businesses With Cybersecurity Readiness

SYDNEY – May 23, 2024Fastly, Inc. (NYSE: FSLY), a leader in global edge cloud platforms, today announced it has partnered in Australia and New Zealand with RSM, the leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services to middle-market businesses, to provide enterprises with solutions and advisory support for their customers’ cybersecurity operations in Australia and New Zealand.

This new partnership enables RSM to support its clients’ digital operations by aligning security strategy and delivering specialised technology. RSM will now incorporate Fastly’s range of cybersecurity solutions to support the increasingly stringent compliance regulations within the industries in which its clients operate as well as ensure their ongoing adherence to industry standards such as PCI 4.0 and the ASD Essential Eight maturity model.

Ashwin Pal, Director, Security and Privacy, RSM, said, “As technology continues to drive innovation, the vulnerability of critical systems to cyber threats becomes increasingly concerning. Indeed, staying ahead of constantly evolving cyber threats is one of the major challenges facing Australian and New Zealand businesses today. To mitigate this risk, it’s crucial that businesses consistently develop, evolve, and improve their cybersecurity posture with both strategy and solutions which can enhance their ability to avoid, respond to, and recover from cyber-attacks.”
“As a result, we were looking for a vendor partner to complement our advisory and consulting skills and in Fastly we found trusted technology and solutions which teams actually use and are well aligned with our customers’ risk management requirements.”

Last month, Fastly introduced Fastly Bot Management to help organisations combat automated “bot” attacks at the edge and significantly reduce the risk of fraud, DDoS attacks, account takeovers, and other online abuse.

The new platform solution scales to meet customer website and application needs, reduces fraud risk and infrastructure costs. It also builds on the company’s proven bot mitigation expertise and capabilities currently available in its high-efficacy single-solution, Next-Gen WAF which can be deployed at the edge with scalability, lower total cost of ownership and increased visibility for faster remediation. Fastly’s Next-Gen WAF effectively detects and blocks malicious traffic without tuning, so AppSec teams can focus on bigger problems.

Fastly was named a 2024 Gartner® Peer Insights™ Customers’ Choice for Cloud Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) in the Voice of the Customer for Cloud WAAP – and the only vendor to be recognised as a Customers’ Choice in this report for six years running.

Alan Chan, Head of Channel and Partnership – ANZ, Fastly, said, “As we think about the use of the internet in the past decade in our everyday life, we have seen even further growth as a result of the pandemic. Public digital assets are key to a company’s brand, generating revenue and interacting with its customers. This shift to the digital world means a more attractive target for the adversary and cyber criminals. RSM’s advisory skills and experience are a perfect addition to Fastly’s ecosystem of partners as together we can offer customers actionable insight and solutions for stronger cyber resilience.”

Fastly’s 2023 global cybersecurity report uncovered the staggering impacts of cyber attacks with Australia and New Zealand suffering an average of 49 known cyber attacks last year and losing nine percent of their revenue. However, financial damage isn’t the only result of cyber attacks. The report found that Australian and New Zealand businesses also highlighted network outages (33%), data loss (26%), customer/client accounts being compromised (25%) and loss of customer/client trust (25%) as the most common damages caused by security breaches.
