Equifax And Norton Partner To Help Keep Australians’ Identities And Credit Information Safe, As Data Threats Grow

SYDNEY – 24 April 2024 – Equifax, the global data, analytics and technology company, has today announced a partnership with Norton, a consumer Cyber Safety brand of Gen™, bringing together two leaders in their respective industries to offer Australians a powerful suite of identity and credit protection services.

The partnership will integrate Norton’s market-leading identity monitoring and protection into Equifax Credit & Identity Protect subscriptions. This new offering – Identity Protection powered by NortonTM – will further enhance the security services offered to Equifax customers.

Data from Norton reveals that the majority (63%) of Australians are concerned about identity theft[1]. As concerns around data breaches increase[2], the partnership with Norton provides Equifax customers with access to monitoring that goes beyond easily accessible and recognisable sites and marketplaces.

The integration of Norton’s Identity Protection product includes the monitoring of private forums, social web, deep web, and dark web to detect exposed information and stolen personal data with a combination of people and advanced monitoring technology.

Identity Protection powered by Norton will scan the dark web for customers’ personal information and notify consumers if any of their details are found. Identity Protection can:

  • Scan the dark web^ for up to 52 different personal details#;
  • Monitor 120 additional data points;
  • Provide social media monitoring* for up to seven accounts on popular platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, SnapChat, TikTok and YouTube.

Suellen Heintz, General Manager of Product Operations and Transformation at Equifax said, “As instances of data breaches and cyber attacks climb, it’s little wonder consumers are increasingly concerned about the safety of their personal information. We are thrilled to be working with Norton to bring our customers a market-leading solution that helps them manage their credit profile, safeguard their personal information, and reduce their risk of becoming a victim of identity crime.”

Mark Gorrie, Managing Director APAC at Norton said, “Most Australians consider their personal information to be safe but unfortunately for many their data has been shared, breached or harvested in the many scams we see. The risk of identity theft, unauthorised account access and further targeted scams is very real for most Australians. The partnership of Norton and Equifax brings together the capabilities of the leading Cyber Safety brand and the leading provider of credit information to discover the use of personal data and proactively alert Australians that are at risk of identity theft. We’re very excited to be partnering with Equifax and the impact we can have to mitigate the identity risks faced by consumers.”

The Identity Protection partnership builds on Equifax and Norton’s earlier collaboration, which offered a bonus Equifax Credit Protect (12-month) subscription to customers who purchased an eligible Norton Identity subscription.

Identity Protection powered by Norton is now available to new and existing customers. For more information, visit www.equifax.com.au.
