Cloudwerx Reunites Cloud Sherpas Alumni with Appointment of Brendan Connolly as COO and Data and AI Lead

Sydney, 22 October 2025 – Cloudwerx, a leading Australian provider of solutions that integrate advanced data, Generative AI and cloud technology, has announced the appointment of Brendan Connolly as Chief Operating Officer and head of its data and agentic AI division.

Based in Sydney, Connolly will be responsible for scaling and productising the growth of Cloudwerx Agentic offerings and delivery methods across their work across data, Salesforce and other AI platforms.

Formerly Managing Director – Data and AI Go to Market Lead ANZ at Accenture, Connolly has more than two decades of experience working in consulting and services roles within organisations, including BearingPoint, Pactera and Cloud Sherpas.  At Cloudwerx, he joins a leadership team rich with Cloud Sherpas alumni, including Toby Wilcock (CEO), Alyssia Tennant (Chief Growth Officer), John Cosgrove (Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer), and Chris Baldock (CTO), marking a reunion for a group that helped pioneer the cloud ecosystem in the region.

Toby Wilcock, CEO, Cloudwerx, said, “We are thrilled to have Brendan join us. It’s a real vote of confidence in the business we have built and the talent within the team. Brendan is a proven business builder and I have no doubt we will go from strength to strength with him onboard.”

Connolly says his decision to join Cloudwerx was driven by the company’s progress in applying AI to services delivery, a challenge many firms have struggled to solve. “Clients of every scale want delivery that is simpler and more predictable,” Connolly said. “If AI speeds work, services should reflect that and Cloudwerx are market leading in the approach they are taking to redefine services delivery”.

Following the acquisition of data and AI consultancy Lightfold in 2024, Cloudwerx has expanded two proprietary frameworks that now underpin its applied agentic AI programs, including work on Salesforce Agentforce. The first, inspired by methods in modern construction, engineering, and manufacturing, involves a new approach to how services are priced, packaged and delivered.  Clients sign a Success Plan for fixed-price “Delivery Units” – modular building blocks that can be redeemed for a wide range of shippable features across data, AI, and Salesforce projects whenever the client is ready.

Cloudwerx has sold and delivered more than 1,000 Delivery Units across multiple cloud technologies, generating over $150 million of value for customers since the system came online. John Cosgrove, former Lightfold CEO and now Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, said the approach “moves us beyond selling time to providing small, high-performance squads that operate like modern manufacturing cells, delivering repeatable outcomes where incentives align with speed and quality.”

Reforming delivery without reforming design does not work, especially in the current era of agentic AI.  The second framework, known as Tesseract, is a modular, productised design system that keeps human outcomes at the centre while adapting quickly to agentic AI. It standardises quality across Salesforce, cloud data, and AI implementations – enabling faster, more predictable delivery.

Allegis Group, which includes leading recruitment brands such as TEKsystems, Aerotek and Aston Carter, has engaged Cloudwerx through Success Plans for more than three years. Work has spanned Snowflake data platforms, multi-region Salesforce delivery, and new agentic AI solutions.

“It is hard to imagine going back,” said James Warwick, Chief Operating Officer, Allegis APAC. “Delivery Units give us fixed cost with flexible scope, and we can scale up or down on demand.

“Tesseract standardises design, so quality holds even as needs vary by region. What’s remarkable is how easy it makes budget planning and management – we’ve never needed a change request, we’ve had zero cost overruns and we combine sprint and backlog planning into basically the same instrument.”

Connolly added, “Consulting has been largely static for thirty years. Clients deserve better than partnering and solutioning models designed to solve the problems of yesterday. Cloudwerx’s approach is refreshingly new and dynamic and is helping clients manage risk, unlock real value from agentic AI, backed by measurable outcomes.”
