Microsoft and Commvault expand strategic partnership as enterprises prioritise AI resilience

Microsoft and Commvault have expanded their long-standing relationship through a new strategic partnership aimed at helping organisations simplify cyber resilience as AI adoption accelerates.

The agreement will see Commvault’s resilience platform offered as a native service within Microsoft Azure, providing customers with a more integrated approach to protecting data, applications and digital identities across cloud environments.

The partnership reflects growing enterprise demand for platforms that combine cloud infrastructure, AI capabilities and cyber resilience into a unified operating model.

Commvault President and CEO Sanjay Mirchandani said resilience is becoming a critical requirement for organisations investing in AI and cloud transformation.

“For over 25 years, we’ve partnered with Microsoft and now we’re taking that collaboration to the next level.
“Many of our customers rely on Microsoft Azure to scale their business in the cloud, use AI, optimise operations and bring ideas to life. With this joint commitment, we can also make best-in-class resilience plug-and-play for Microsoft customers.”

Rather than deploying separate resilience infrastructure, organisations will be able to provision Commvault directly through Azure, streamlining procurement, deployment and ongoing management.

Microsoft President of Azure Core Girish Bablani said customers increasingly expect resilience capabilities to be embedded within their cloud platforms.

“Customers rely on Azure as a resilient foundation for their cloud and AI workloads. Supporting Commvault natively gives them more choice in how they protect and recover their data, with a more seamless experience inside Azure.”

The companies said the partnership will help organisations maximise existing Azure investments by allowing Commvault Cloud purchases through Microsoft Marketplace to count towards Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) spending.

Beyond technology integration, Microsoft and Commvault will also collaborate on joint solution development and go-to-market initiatives designed to accelerate cloud migration and AI adoption for enterprise customers.

Commvault expects the native Azure service to enter public preview later this year.
