Macquarie Telecom Expands Fortinet Partnership to Launch Unified Secure Networking Solution

Macquarie Telecom has today announced a major expansion of its long-running partnership with global cybersecurity leader Fortinet. The expansion will see the companies bring a new, fully unified secure networking offering to the Australian market.

The strengthened partnership combines Fortinet’s global leadership in secure networking with Macquarie Telecom’s Australian-based engineering, 24/7 operations, and deep expertise in managed network performance. Together, the companies will provide a single vendor, single platform, and single-pane-of-glass experience designed for mid-market and enterprise organisations seeking stronger protection, simplified operations, cost savings, and predictable, scalable service delivery.

Macquarie Telecom was one of Fortinet’s first partners in Australia and has developed the skillset, experience, and tenure needed to deliver a safe pair of hands as for businesses using Fortinet services. As an integrated provider of security, networking, cloud, and data centre services, Macquarie Telecom brings a unique ability to seamlessly connect and safeguard entire digital environments under one operational umbrella.

The collaboration across telecommunications and security has produced a new secure networking (Secure Access Service Edge, or SASE) offering which brings together secure software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), on-premises inline next-generation firewall, security service edge (SSE) cloud-delivered security, switching, and Wi-Fi into a single solution. The complete end-to-end solution will consolidate network security, connectivity, and cloud access under one partner and one platform, eliminating the need to switch between multiple consoles, licensing models, or providers.

“Fortinet is proud to expand its long-standing partnership with Macquarie Telecom to bring a unified secure networking solution purpose-built for Australian organisations. By combining global innovation in secure networking with Macquarie Telecom’s locally delivered expertise, customers gain a simpler, more resilient, and more secure way to operate their networks. Together, we’re helping organisations reduce complexity and strengthen their cyber resilience as they scale,” said John Milionis, Channel Sales Director, Australia and New Zealand, Fortinet.

Australian organisations are facing rising threat activity, constrained IT resources, and mounting regulatory pressure, leaving mid-market and enterprise teams struggling to manage complex hybrid networks while maintaining compliance and resilience.

The Macquarie Telecom-driven, Fortinet-powered solution provides consistent policies and full visibility across the environment, allowing for faster incident response and increased efficiency. For organisations with hybrid workforces or growing cloud footprints, seamless SASE capabilities extend protection to remote workers, mobile devices, cloud workloads, and SaaS applications, ensuring SD-WAN and firewall controls are consistently enforced wherever users connect.

With the co-built unified platform delivered, monitored, and supported entirely in Australia by Macquarie Telecom’s engineering and operations team, customers can gain the peace of mind that their networks are overseen 24/7 by specialists who understand Australian compliance frameworks, including obligations under the Government’s Essential Eight (E8) and sector-specific regulatory requirements.

Macquarie Telecom’s depth and breadth of carrier-neutral network reach and its carrier-grade core network architecture further strengthens the solution, enabling resilient, high-performance connectivity for organisations with distributed sites, cloud workloads, and latency-sensitive applications.

“When sovereignty, accountability, and fast response are critical, customers shouldn’t have to choose between global cybersecurity capability and local support. We deliver both – and few others can,” said Luke Clifton, Group Executive at Macquarie Telecom.
“Our mission has always been to identify best-in-market technologies and make them accessible, manageable, and secure for Australian businesses. Fortinet brings depth in security-driven networking and a full-stack architecture built from the ground up for protection and performance. By combining that with our locally based expert teams and 24/7 operations, we are delivering a unified platform that gives customers a simpler, stronger, and more accountable way to secure their networks. Meanwhile we’re preserving customer choice and ensuring they can adopt the solutions that best fit their needs.”

The strengthened alliance reinforces Macquarie Telecom’s commitment to helping Australian organisations address one of the most persistent challenges: building secure, high-performance networks that can keep pace with cloud adoption, hybrid work, and tightening regulatory expectations.

“The partnership between Fortinet and Macquarie Telecom ensures Australian businesses no longer need to choose between local trust, global innovation, operational simplicity, or security. They can have it all, through one platform and one partner,” said Clifton.
