SYDNEY, 24 September 2025 – Dynatrace, the leading AI-powered observability platform, today announced its successful collaboration with Australia’s leading regionally based private health insurer GMHBA, to transform the performance and reliability of its technology infrastructure. The partnership has equipped GMHBA with advanced tools to predict and resolve IT issues, benefiting its almost 320,000 members with uninterrupted service and a seamless digital experience. As its operations expanded, challenges such as failing services and expiring SSL certificates began to impact IT performance, spurring the need for an enterprise-wide observability solution.
Matt Jaques, Head of Infrastructure at GMHBA, highlighted the organisation’s motivation for change. “We were experiencing some disruptions, from disks filling up to SSL certificates expiring during work hours, causing downtime. It became critical to improve visibility across our infrastructure and shift from a reactive approach to proactively preventing disruptions.”
After a thorough evaluation of various solutions, GMHBA selected Dynatrace for its ability to analyse and automate intelligence at scale. Dynatrace delivered end-to-end visibility, monitoring everything from servers and applications to cloud-based resources, enabling the identification and resolution of performance issues before they affected members.
“The biggest advantage delivered by Dynatrace is the ability to see our entire technology stack. We can monitor and analyse how our members interact with our website and trace those interactions all the way to our backend database. This allows us to resolve IT issues before they impact system performance,” Jaques shared.
The benefits of Dynatrace extended beyond day-to-day operations, playing a pivotal role in GMHBA’s migration of its Microsoft SharePoint instance to the Azure cloud platform. With Dynatrace, the migration was completed two months ahead of schedule, resulting in significant cost savings that were reinvested into member services.
“Dynatrace wasn’t a tactical solution, it was a strategic one,” Jaques said. “We now have a reliable and resilient infrastructure that supports our current member base and positions us for future growth by being able to analyse and innovate faster.”
In addition, potential performance bottlenecks and gaps can now be identified and resolved before they affect user experiences, while complex tasks are being automated. Based on its findings, Dynatrace automatically activates instrumentation tailored to GMHBA’s application stack. Along with enhancing performance, this ensures that the right level of resources is allocated to the applications and services that need them most.
