Why do you enjoy working in the cyber security field?
As a woman in cybersecurity, we are part of a growing community of female professionals who are breaking down barriers and creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce. This sense of community provides support, mentorship, and networking opportunities that allow us to thrive in our careers. Cyber security is a constantly evolving field with new threats emerging daily. It makes the work exciting and challenging as we are constantly having to learn and adapt.
We have the opportunity to protect individuals, organisations, and even countries from cyber threats. Playing a critical role in safeguarding sensitive information and preventing cyber-attacks, which can be incredibly fulfilling. Working in this industry can be incredibly rewarding, challenging, and fulfilling. Being part of a critical industry that is shaping the future of technology and keeping individuals and organisations safe from cyber threats. Being part of a field that is still largely dominated by men, gives me the opportunity to be a leader and a role model for other women in the industry.
What are your words of advice to encourage other women to work in the space?
I encourage my female peers to be fearless and confident in their abilities. Do not be afraid to take risks, ask questions, and challenge yourself. Find mentors who can help you navigate the industry and provide guidance and support. I’ve found networking is key to finding opportunities, so attend industry events or join professional organisations to make connections.
Staying up-to-date on the latest technological advancements and trends will help you stay ahead of the curve. Don’t be afraid to take the leap and follow your passions. You can make a real impact and thrive in a fulfilling a career in tech!
