Why do you enjoy working in the cyber-security field?
The number one reason I enjoy working in security is the satisfaction that comes from helping businesses protect themselves, given the context they operate in. And this is becoming increasingly problematic as risk increases in sophistication and frequency.
Another part of the attraction for me is the challenging nature of our work. Being on top of evolving privacy legislation and best practice security implementation is essential and requires intellectual and professional alertness at all times.
What are your words of advice to encourage other women to work in the space?
In my opinion, women are built for security roles and have innate traits that no amount of training can create. Most often, women bring an incredible sense of detail, an ability to successfully multi-task, a capacity to think outside the box and a mindful approach to the sector.
Cyber security is an incredibly purposeful career which meets the aspirations of many women who seek a sense of purpose in their work.
